I spent the month of November in New York, it's been a little over year since I stepped foot in the city. I went there on a whim, I planned on going to NYC to shoot some content, but this trip was random. I checked my interview charter filled with a batch of artists and I hit up those within the closest vicinity of me.

The last person I spoke to is Veto Corli from Staten Island. Veto is a lyricist that's so cold with the flow, from the first time I heard him in 2011, his semi-raspy voice and strong delivery made him a stand out. I made the trip across the water and I got to speak to Veto about life on Staten Island, the lessons he learned from doing a bid, and his new "Rythm & Bullets" project.

While in NY on a whim I spent an afternoon with one of the most interesting personalities in New York City in one of the most forgotten places in New York City. Meet Fat Bible, a name he has coined from his devotion to God and a play on words for how nice he is with the flow. This Roosevelt island native has been a beast with the bars, at a young age his talent bought him plenty of recognition and was even adopted into the Black Mafia Family (BMF). Pretty random right? Fat Bible also know as the Flee God has been spreading his holy aura and spittin’ “Biblicals” on the New York circuit and has had records such as “No Funny” get air play on NYC's Hot 97 radio station. In fact he's the first artist from his community to ever get radio play. I spoke with Bible about living in Roosevelt Island, his BMF association, his infectious music/lingo and much more.

Blaqbonez

I always say you can tell an album is good if you can play the whole thing without skipping a song.

My first introduction to Blaqbonez was on the Jae5 produced single “Back In Uni”, I thought it was a decent song to say the least, at the time I had no idea I was listening to one of the best new artists within Afro/Hip-Hop. Blaq just released a new album entitled YOUNG PREACHER and It's nothing short of amazing!

YOUNG PREACHER is a sonically beautiful journey through the life of an artist that is on the brink of stardom. The album starts off with a album titled track where Blaqbones flexes his lyrical ability, slyly telling you he’s the new Jigga of this era. The album then goes into the track “Hot Boy” which has one of the best transitions on the album, I really hope he makes that his next video/single. Blaqbonez has an incredible ability to touch on topics and trends that are relevant to his young audience, he shows this on the song “Fashionova". A favorite track of mine is “Fake Nikes", a song about consciously spending his money and not letting the opinion of others affect his actions

Blaqbonez' ability to touch on socially conscious topics and make it digestible enough for the likes of mainstream radio is a rare talent that will take his music far. The YOUNG PREACHER album has debuted at number 6 on the Apple Music charts, but after sitting with it for 2 days I easily have this in my top 10 for 2022.
